If you use Webflow on a regular basis, you may have felt that “the plan structure is complicated and difficult to understand.” You've probably faced plan limitations when trying to add team members or when trying to hand over site edits to clients.

In 2024, Webflow declared the evolution to the Website Experience Platform (WXP) and announced major updates to the fee structure and products. In this article, I will introduce the changes in an easy-to-understand manner.

The challenges Webflow has faced so far

Conventional Webflow plans are broadly divided into Workspace plans and Site plans, and when used by a team, it was necessary to move to a higher plan according to the number of members. In the case of working in a team of 3 or more, there were situations where I had to choose a plan that was actually expensive.

Also, while the “Editor” function, which grants clients permission to edit the site, is convenient, there were also voices that it was uncertain which plan it could be used with and what the cost would be. In order to resolve this complexity, this WXP migration is being carried out.

4 main changes in the WXP update

There are 4 major changes due to this update. Let's take a closer look at each one.

1. Deploy flexible workspaces

One of the biggest changes is the renewal of the workspace seating system. Previously, it was necessary to upgrade plans according to the number of team members, but now the limit on the number of users has been removed.

Three new seat types have been introduced: “Full,” “Limited,” and “Free.” All Workspace plans now include a free full seat for 1 person, and you can flexibly choose a combination according to the size of the organization and the role of the members.

The new sheet options are already available in new workspaces and existing starter workspaces. Existing paid workspaces were gradually migrated from January 29 to February 28, 2025.

2. Workspace Plan and Site Plan Features Reorganized

The functions of each plan have also been reviewed according to actual usage scenarios in site construction, management, and optimization.

Key changes to Workspace plans:

  • With the paid plan, the number of pages you can create on the staging site starts at 150 pages300 pagesDouble to
  • With the Growth and Agency plans, “301 redirect” settings are now possible from a staging environment without the need for a Site plan
  • Password protection and site-level permission management features have been removed from the Freelancer and Core plans (existing settings are retained)
  • A new “site specific access (SSA)” has been added to the Growth plan, making team management of multiple sites smoother

Key changes to the Site plan:

  • The number of forms submitted for paid plansunrestrictedto. Previously, there was an upper limit on the number of senders, and there were cases where people were forced to change plans during marketing campaigns, but this limit has been lifted
  • With the Business plan, custom TXT and JSON files can now be managed from the Asset Manager

3. Transition from Editor to Editor Mode and introduction of client sheets

The previous “Editor” function will be phased out and the new “Editor Mode” will be transferred. In addition to being able to edit dynamic and static content directly on the canvas, Editor Mode provides a more versatile editing experience, such as organizing and uploading assets, and integrating with localization and analytics.

Along with the abolition of Editor, a “client sheet” will also be introduced. The client seat grants clients free access to edit and browse only specific sites.

  • Freelancer/Agency Plans: Each Editor user is automatically granted 1 client seat
  • Core/Growth Plans: Free limited seats per Editor user

Detailed notice of the removal of Editor will be given at least 6 months in advance, and migration support will also be provided.

4. Logic and user accounts were abolished due to the WXP migration

With the migration to WXP, Webflow's Logic and User Account features will be discontinued. The replacement services and the discontinuation schedule for each are as follows.

  • Logic: Use ended on 2025/6/27. Recommended replacement services are Zapier and Make
  • User accounts: Use will end on 2026/1/29. Recommended migration destinations are Outseta and Memberstack

For affected users, discounts from partner companies and migration support from certified Webflow partners are offered.
